The smallest hotel in the world is more expensive than some 5-star hotels. By the title of being the smallest hotel in the world, one will expect that it is cheap or will be cheap.
Eh’häusl Hotel, located in Amberg Germany, has held the Guinness World Record for being the smallest hotel since 2008.
The hotel is just 53 square meters overall and is open to two guests at a time.
The teeny, tiny hotel, which measures about eight feet wide, is sandwiched between two larger buildings.
The building dates back to 1728 and was built in its small space due to laws at the time which meant you had to have proof of being a landowner to be married.
It was built between two existing structures by simply adding the walls at the front and back, as well as the roof, which then showed proof of being a landowner.
The name of the hotel roughly translated to “marriage” house or “matrimonial” house in the 18th or 19th century in the local vernacular, and it’s easy to see why.
The hotel is too small to accommodate more than two guests at any given time.
It was then used for couples to get married, before being sold to another groom who wanted to get married.
The interesting thing about the world’s smallest hotel is how extravagantly it is decorated.
Everything in the hotel is luxurious, from the whirlpool tub in the bathroom and other several amenities for its guests like a romantic fireplace and salon to the golden frames and statues in the hallway.
Despite seeming a little cramped, the hotel is quite an adorable getaway for an individual or couple looking for some privacy.
Music is played throughout the hotel, guests are given complimentary robes and slippers as souvenirs.
You don’t need a giant suite to feel like you’re basking in luxury.
Eh’häusl Hotel cost £217 per night with breakfast included.
